DAY 01: ARRIVAL IN KATHMANDU
  • Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, you will be welcomed by our tea, and transfer you to your hotel in Kathmandu.
  • Check in to the hotel.
  • Briefing for the upcoming expedition.
DAY 02: LUKLA TO PAIYA (CHUTOK) TREK) 2,730M /8,956FT
  • 5 to 6 hours trek, 10 km
  • Early morning with away Breakfast, we will take you to Kathmandu Domestic Airport
  • Breakfast at Lukla Airport
  • We will take 45 minutes flight to Lukla in the morning. We will start the trek to Paiya, moving ahead on a forest pathway and crossing the Handi Khola. We will get to Surke Village within a few hours of walking. Our journey continues by crossing the Chutok La pass on our way to Paiyan. Paiyan is also known as the name Chutok.

 

Reminder

Lukla Flights are departing and returning to Ramechhap instead of Kathmandu due to ongoing upgrades at Kathmandu Airport. Its about a 4 hour drive to Ramechhap from Kathmandu so we will get started for the airport around 2 am. The return drive at the end of the trek is between 4 and 6 hours depending on traffic. Helicopter is best alternative way to avoid going to Ramechhap.

DAY 03: PAIYA TO PANGGOM 2,846M /9,337FT
  • 5 to 6 hours trek, 7 km
  • Morning breakfast
  • Shortly after leaving the lodge, we turn onto a meandering trail that takes us up into a forest of rhododendrons and oak. We cross a ridge a little above 3000 meters and then descend into the valley of the Khari Khola at around 2400 meters before ascending again to Pangkongma (2850m) where there is a small monastery. We pass several small farming settlement on today's relatively untrekked route.

DAY 04: PANGGOM TO NINGSOW 2,863M /9,393FT
  • 4 to 5 hours trek, 7 km
  • A great day of trekking which begins with a climb up to the Pangkongma La (3174m) on the main watershed separating the valleys of the Dudh Kosi and Hinku Khola. We have our first sight of Mera Peak before making a steep descent to the village of Sibuje (2770 m). From here the trail is undulating as we make our way through the forested river valley to Ning So (2850m).

DAY 05: NINGSOW TO CHHATRA KHOLA 2,800M /9,186FT
  • 7 to 8 hours trek
  • Morning breakfast
  • From Ningsow, we will climb up the hillside again and then gradually descend for a while before climbing some more to reach the Ramailo Danda. We walk on the trail named after Pasang Lhamu Sherpa, Pasang Lhamu trail. We might see rare animals like Red panda and Blue sheep if we are fortunate enough.

DAY 06: CHHATRA KHOLA TO KOTHE 3,691M /12,109FT
  • 6 to 7 hours trek
  • Morning breakfast
  • Leaving Chhetra Khola Campsite, we trek north and ascend along our way to reach Takhto. After making a quick stop, we continue on our walk and reach Kothe. We cross the tributaries of Majang Khola and walk through serene forests. The trek offers great views of mountains of Makalu range with the ever-present gorgeous landscapes.

DAY 07: KOTHE TO THAKNAK 4,358M /14,297FT
  • 3 to 5 hours trek
  • After having breakfast, we will walk through the bank of Hinku Khola. Following the trail, we will reach Gondishung and an old Lungsumgba Gompa. After walking a while from Lungsumgba Gompa, we will reach Thaknak.
  • We will stay overnight at Thaknak.
DAY 08: THAKNAK TO KHARE (MERA PEAK BASECAMP) 5,045M /16,486FT
  • 3 to 4 hours trek
  • Heading up from Tagnag towards the Mera Basecamp at Khare, a good trail leads up and across the moraine which dams Charpatti Tal, and reaches a high point lined with cairns overlooking this glacial lake in about 30 minutes. From here  the trail descends slightly to cross a sandy bowl and then climbs alongside a khola or stream to the large pasture of Dig Kharka. Here we cross the khola on stepping stones and then climb for a further hour and a half to Khare, the basecamp for Mera Peak at an altitude of approximately 5000 metres.

DAY 09: KHARE: ACCLIMATIZATION AND PRE- CLIMB TRAINING
  • 6 to 7 hours trek
  • Morning breakfast
  • Leaving Chhetra Khola Campsite, we trek north and ascend along our way to reach Takhto. After making a quick stop, we continue on our walk and reach Kothe. We cross the tributaries of Majang Khola and walk through serene forests. The trek offers great views of mountains of Makalu range with the ever-present gorgeous landscapes.

DAY 10: KHARE TO MERA HIGH CAMP 5,780M /18,958FT
  • 6 to 7 hours trek
  • We walk through a boulder-strewn course on a steep trail to reach the Mera Peak Base Camp. From here, we continue further through the Mera La pass to reach the Mera High Camp. Our path is along a rocky trail, which can be hazardous if it has recently snowed, as there are a number of crevasses here. We make our way to the top of the rock band, which is marked by a large cairn. Then we set up a high camp while enjoying excellent views of Mt. Everest, Makalu, Cho Oyu, the south face of Lhotse, Nuptse, Chamlang and Baruntse.

DAY 11: MERA HIGH TO SUMMIT 6,461M /21,190FT AND BACK TO KHARE 5,045M /16,547FT
  • 8 to 9 hours trek
  • This is a really important day for the expedition. We wake up around 2 in the morning for breakfast. It’s going to be very cold in the beginning but soon we warm up as we continue up the glacier and onto a peculiar ridge. The first rays of the sun hit the big peaks in an amazing red glow.
  • The route is still non-technical as we slowly climb higher into the ever-thinning air. The slope steepens for a section behind the ridge and the summit comes back into view. At the foot of the final steep summit cone, we may use a fixed rope if the climbing leader believes it’s required. The summit is only a few meters away. From the summit, we take in spectacular views of the mighty Himalayas including Mt. Everest (8,848m), Cho-Oyu (8,210m), Lhotse (8,516m), Makalu (8,463m), Kangchenjunga (8,586m), Nuptse (7,855m), Chamlang (7,319m), Baruntse (7 ,129m) and others. Later, we retrace our steps back to the high camp where we rest for a while before descending to Khare.

DAY 12: RESERVE DAY IN KHARE
 
  • The day is useful incase if there will be any kind if delay for climbing due to weather and other unforeseen scenario.
DAY 13: KHARE TO KOTHE 3,600M /11,808FT
  • 5 to 5 hours trek
  • We trek from Khare to Kothe along the same trail used previously. After reaching Kothe, we celebrate our success by trying out local delicacies and wines. Overnight in Kothe.
DAY 14: FLY TO KATHMANDU BY HELICOPTER
  • Morning time, you will be pick by helicopter and transfer you down to Lukla and later we continue our flight to Kathmandu.
  • Check in to Hotel and relax time on your own.
DAY 15: FINAL DEPARTURE
  • Morning breakfast at Hotel.
  • You will be transferred to Kathmandu airport for your flight time. Please be ready by 3 hours before of your flight time.
